Visit a sponsored community
We're excited you’re considering a trip to visit a sponsored community, meet your sponsored child or see a project. We can’t wait to show you the work your support makes possible.
To get ready, please read our pre-travel package, and follow the simple steps:
Step 1: Learn more
CCFC is committed to keeping children safe from harm, so visitors to our program areas must read our Policy for Keeping Children Safe before signing other forms.
Also, check the Government of Canada travel advice and advisories website for up-to-date information about the safety of travelling to your country of choice.
Step 2: Complete travel forms
Download and complete the Visitor Agreement Form, which must name all travellers. We work to protect children from harm, so we can only accommodate travellers five and older.
The Minor Consent Form must be completed for any traveller between the age of five and 18.
There are many risks (safety, medical, financial and more) associated with travel, so the Travel Waiver and Release form must be signed by all travellers.
Step 3: Complete Vulnerable Sector Check
To visit a sponsored community, travellers must submit a cleared Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC). The VSC was developed by the RCMP for workers or volunteers in the vulnerable sector.
VSCs must be completed by the police service of the local jurisdiction where the applicant resides. VSC processing times can vary, so submit a request to your local police station several months before your planned visit. There will be a fee, which is not CCFC's responsibility.
Step 4: Submit completed forms and waivers
Return completed forms and waivers to CCFC at least three months before your trip. This will give us time to review your information and plan your community visit. Don’t forget the following:
- completed Visit Agreement Form (for travellers)
- completed Waiver and Release form (for travellers 18 and older)
- completed Minor Consent Form (for children five and older)
- cleared Vulnerable Sector Check (for travellers 18 and older)
- all documentation must be received by Markham, Ont., head office before a visit with the child and his/her family is approved
- send your package to email@example.com, and a member of CCFC’s team will contact you to discuss the next steps
Visits to sponsored communities are coordinated through CCFC’s Markham office in Ontario and are subject to approval. If you have any questions, call 1-800-263-5437, ext. 610; email firstname.lastname@example.org; or read frequently asked questions on our sponsorship page.
