Teens get a preventative preview of parenthood
Nicaraguan youth use baby simulators to learn more about caring for infants
By Brianne Binelli, online content manager, Canada
Nicaragua has the highest teen pregnancy rate in Latin America, according to the country’s Ministry of Health (MINSA).
Christian Children’s Fund of Canada (CCFC) is working to address that issue through projects such as Think About It. “It was a methodology practised through the use of games to educate youth about teen pregnancy prevention,” explains Karla Ramírez, our monitoring and evaluation officer in Nicaragua.”
As part of the project, participants had to take care of baby simulators to get a feel for what it’s like to be a parent.
How did they do? Watch the video below for more details about the project.
