Celebrating a safe place to learn
Watch to see how new classrooms in Burkina Faso have improved student safety
By Brianne Binelli, online content manager, Canada
It’s not uncommon for teachers in North America to give lessons outside during the summer, but for some students in Burkina Faso, that was the only option — regardless of the weather.
“It was difficult to concentrate, and we were always disturbed by people and animals,” explains Marie, 13, of her former straw-shed classroom in Burkina Faso, which failed to protect students from wind and rain.
Thanks to supporters of Christian Children’s Fund of Canada, Marie and her peers now have three cement, sand and rock classrooms.
Watch the video below to hear Marie and her peers tell you how their school has improved.
