Dream big: Inspiring students to stay in school
Catching up with a teen, in a CCFC program area, who is inspired to further her education
In Nicaragua, five out of 10 children complete primary school, according to the Inter-American Development Bank. That’s why girls like Betzy benefit from JUPAC, a local youth leadership group Christian Children’s Fund of Canada (CCFC) has supported through projects.
“In my family, it’s thought that just men [should] study and work,” says Betzy. “JUPAC gave me a space to feel valued, because my ideas are heard.” In fact, the 17-year-old credits the group with inspiring her to continue her studies.
At CCFC, investing in youth leadership programs means inspiring youth like Betzy to further their education through university or skills-training.
Watch this video, and hear Betzy explain how her life has been transformed.
