Travelling to school shouldn’t be so difficult
Watch Daisy’s journey to school in southwestern Uganda
A love for learning is keeping children from southwestern Uganda in school, despite a long commute by canoe without supervision and through dangerous weather conditions.
“Of course it is difficult, but because we like to study, we don’t see it as that hard,” says Daisy, a student who uses a canoe service. Her mother disagrees: “Crossing with canoes is really troublesome for the children,” she says.
For Christian Children’s Fund of Canada, investing in education means creating opportunities for children such as Daisy. We introduce projects to ensure access to safe school programs to support children to grow confidently.
