Girls Not Brides releases anthem to end child marriage
Watch how girls in Zambia are making their voices heard
LONDON, England — “Speak out, you have a voice,” sings a chorus of girls in a video released today by the U.K.-based Girls Not Brides non-governmental agency just in time for the Day of the African Child.
Faith, a 17-year-old from Zambia, originally wrote the song and sang it with her classmates. It was so well-received Girls Not Brides made a video that’s now being dubbed “the anthem to end child marriage.”
Listen to the lyrics and message being delivered by girls who live in a country where, according to Girls Not Brides, 42 percent of females are married before their 18th birthday.
