NEPAL — The 2015 Nepal earthquakes left many youngsters susceptible to child trafficking, a problem Sushmita knows all too well.
The 14-year-old’s father died and her mother has remarried, so she is especially vulnerable. “I have heard of girls being taken away to work in the city, but I would never let myself be led astray by a stranger,” she says.
UNICEF stepped in to ensure Sushmita could stay in her community and get an education.
