A sponsor services associate shares a special letter from a sponsored child
By Danielle Rosenblum, sponsor services associate
We deal with lots of numbers in the Sponsor Services department at Christian Children’s Fund of Canada. How many children are currently sponsored, how many are available to be sponsored, how many pieces of correspondence are we processing? We file, sort and view hundreds of photos of kids each day and read hundreds of letters from sponsored children to their sponsors every week. Once we know a letter is in line with our child-protection policy, off it goes to the sponsor. At times, it can all blur together. But then something comes along that jolts me back to reality — an inspiring letter, a beautiful picture or a generous gift.
One particular letter moved me recently. “It is a pleasure for me to tell you about my life and family. I am one of the best students in my class. My average score is 99 percent,” wrote the sponsored child, who ended the letter with such affection. “May God bless you. I bid you a fond farewell. Looking forward to hearing back from you and your family. I send you kisses and hugs.”
It is clear this child truly loves and appreciates their sponsor and knows the feeling is mutual. This is the connection child sponsorship can foster, and it’s great to see how the work we do in Sponsor Services impacts that.
If you are a sponsor, consider writing to your sponsored child. Every word of encouragement means so much and can make a big difference.
