What is child sponsorship?

It takes a community to raise a healthy child. Caring sponsors enable communities to create safer and healthier places for children to grow, laugh, learn and play, so they can achieve their full potential.

Sponsorship through Christian Children’s Fund of Canada (CCFC) provides a pooled source of funding to help vulnerable children become the leaders of tomorrow. Our programs help families realize their human rights — access to nutritious food, clean water, healthcare and quality education — and empower children to use their voice for change.

While CCFC addresses basic needs, we also monitor child-protection issues, including child, early and forced marriage. As the United Nations’ Population Fund reports, girls who don’t have an education are three times more likely to marry by 18, compared to those who have at least secondary education. CCFC is working to prevent this by spreading awareness on this issue and by making education equally accessible for girls.

Through letters from and to your child, and updates from CCFC, you can experience how your support is making a difference.
