Our mission: Christian Children’s Fund of Canada creates a future of hope for children, families, and communities by helping them develop the skills and resources to overcome poverty and pursue justice.
For more than 50 years, we have followed the example of Christ by serving the poor regardless of their faith, cultural, and ethnic background.
Christian Children’s Fund of Canada (CCFC) inspires children, families and communities in developing countries to build a better and brighter future. With your support, we are improving the safety, security and health of children, and creating a world where they can see beyond poverty and take the lead in their own change.
Every year, CCFC improves the quality of life of more than 500,000 children, youth and community members in vulnerable communities around the world. We work in Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Nicaragua and Paraguay, supporting children regardless of ethnicity, faith, gender or culture.
Since 1960, CCFC has been changing the world, one child at a time. We are a registered Canadian charity advancing the quality of life for children in developing countries in five key areas: health and nutrition; water, sanitation and hygiene; education; sustainable economic growth; and strengthening community organizations.
What we do works, and we can prove it. We respect and value our supporters. We measure and evaluate everything we do. We set clear goals in partnership with each community, and develop a step-by-step plan to achieve them. Evaluations are conducted to make sure the community is – and stays – on track. You can feel confident knowing your contribution is creating lasting and positive change.

Dr. J. Calvitt Clarke & Dr. Verent Mills start work with Chinese war orphans.
Dr. Clarke creates China's Children Fund (CCF).
CCF expands its work from Asia into the Middle East after WWII. Renames itself "Christian Children's Fund".
CCF has global reach, and Canadian support leads to the creation of CCFC.
From one man's vision to a global partnership
CCFC's roots date back to the late 1930s, when American Presbyterian missionary, Dr. J. Calvitt Clarke, along with Dr. Verent Mills, began working with Chinese war orphans. Moved by their suffering, Dr. Clarke created China's Children Fund (CCF) in 1938. Less than a decade later, Mills joined as regional director in Shanghai. Born in Birmingham, England, and raised in Winnipeg, Canada, Mills had been a missionary in South China since the early 1930s.
In the 1950s, the organization expanded its work from Asia into the Middle East in the aftermath of the Second World War and renamed itself Christian Children's Fund. By the 1960s, CCF had a global reach, and growing Canadian support led to the creation of Christian Children's Fund of Canada.
