Beza Solomon Hailemariam |
We were recently contacted by one of our program staff from Ethiopia informing us of a child who was in desperate need of a caring sponsor.
Beza is eight years old and suffers from an eye condition. Sadly, both of Beza’s parents have passed away leaving only her grandmother to care for her.
During a recent home visit, Beza was examined and it was determined that Beza would need to visit the nearest hospital for a proper diagnosis and possible treatment. Unfortunately, Beza's grandmother is too elderly and frail to make the 40km journey. Also, because Beza does not have any relatives near the hospital, Beza would have nowhere to stay if she were to make the trip.
Currently, Beza and her family live in a hut constructed of old wood and mud with a roof made from thin sheets of metal. Whenever possible Beza's grandmother works odd jobs but frequently goes long periods without any earnings. Her meagre and unstable income is far from adequate to provide for her grandchild or any medical treatment she may need.
Despite Beza's condition she is an outgoing child and is part of the drama club in school. She enjoys learning and hopes to become a doctor one day.
