Yahaya dreamed that one day he could walk. He used to find it difficult to stand without the help of a sturdy stick and most times he crawled from place to place, carving out a slow trail across the hot, dry earth.
When it was his turn to write answers on the blackboard at school, he needed physical support from the teacher or another student.
Proper medical attention could help Yahaya walk and play - but his father disowned him when he discovered his son's disability, and his mother re-married, and was not permitted to take Yahaya to her new home.
Yahaya lives in Ghana with his grandmother, who used to spend so much time each day caring for the boy, that she could barely earn enough for food and shelter.
Clearly, paying for physiotherapy, crutches and other treatments was out of the question.
That's why CCFC recently appealed to our supporters for help.
Our goal was to raise $5,000 to cover the cost of surgery and rehabilitation that could help Yahaya overcome his disability.
Because of generous supporters like you, Yahaya has had his surgery and is doing well. This bright, hopeful child can now stand on his own two feet. With greater independence, he now has many more choices for the future.
Thank you from Yahaya and his family, and thank you from CCFC.
Our supporters do have the power to make a difference.
