CCFC is proactive in its fight against HIV / AIDS in developing countries.
Since 2004, we have distributed - through local partners and in collaboration with ENAHPA (Ethiopian North American Health Professionals Association) - millions of dollars worth of urgently needed anti-retroviral medication (ART) to thousands of infected people.
Medicine to assist HIV/AIDS patients
ART has proven to improve the overall health of suffers, which allows many people a sense of independence.
CCFC also engages in several preventive measures. It supports education awareness and prevention, treatment, in-home patient care and nutrition.
The Strong Helping the Weak
Homecare is provided by volunteers, many are HIV-positive themselves.
Some of them were seriously ill at one stage, but as a result of CCFC's comprehensive treatment process, they have regained their stamina, received training, and are now helping others in their communities.
Micro-Enterprise Development/Micro Credit
As the patient's health improves, they will eventually need to earn a living and support themselves and their families.
Working through local partners, CCFC provides funding that goes towards skills/vocational training, as well as the provision of small loans.
The average MED/MC participant tends to operate a small shop, develop livestock operations, such as small dairies, or manufactures small consumer items in their homes.
Rebuilding a Positive Self Image
In addition to providing employment options for recovering HIV/AIDS patients,
MED/MC provides a deep psychological boost.
People feel better about themselves as they engage in productive activities. This allows them to function as contributing members of their communities, which promotes their
Well being.
