A powerful 7.9-magnitude earthquake has devastated several Peruvian cities, killing at least 337 people and forcing the government to declare a state of emergency on Thursday August 16th.
Christian Children's Fund of Canada is in the process of trying to contact staff and partner organizations in the country to assess the level of damage, if any, to CCFC programs. At this time we have no information to suggest any of our sponsored children or programs have been affected. The epicenter of the quake was a considerable distance from our areas of operation.
