International day of the African child, June 16, is a very important day in the life of the African child. In order to draw attention to issues facing African children and children of the northern Region in particular, Christian Children's Fund of Canada (CCFC) in collaboration with its partner organizations and other stakeholders held a conference of children, teachers, parents and civil society organizations in Yendi under the theme "Listening to our children talk."
The children were from the Saboba, Gusheigu, Yendi and Nanumba North districts. Addressing the conference, the Country Director of Ghana CCFC, Mrs. Sanatu Nantogma, emphasized the need for parents and guardians in the country to listen to their children when they make demands relating to their health, education and social needs which are considered as fundamental human rights. Mrs. Nantogma accordingly, called on the government to also listen. |
