CCFC Bringing Families Closer Together

A child’s need for nurturing, comfort, learning, and security is met when a parent has the  knowledge required to help raise him or her. Raising a child is not an easy task for parents anywhere, especially in the developing world where such hardships as war, poverty, and disease put family life at great risk.

There is room for optimism however. An innovative, early childhood development program for parents, Learn Through Play (LTP), which was pioneered in Canada, has now been translated into 16 languages to serve the parenting needs of several developing countries such as Burkina Faso, Nicaragua, Paraguay and more.

Learning Through Play

The Learning Through Play program uses easy to follow picture calendars to equip parents, who may not be able to read, with important skills to encourage the early development of their children.

Early Childhood Development

The early years are the most critical for neurological development, as the most significant brain growth occurs in the first six years of life. The experiences of early childhood have a profound impact on the overall health and well being of individuals throughout their lifetime.
