A major gift to CCFC can take many forms: from a one time donation to a gift of stock; to an endowment; to a bequest. You can select the form that best suits your lifestyle and personal giving goals.

For example, some people choose to give an outright gift of cash in one lump sum, while others choose to spread their donation out over time by pledging an amount and indicating the time frame in which they want to give.  Major gifts can include tangible assets, like real estate, securities, and equipment. Anyone can make a major gift – individuals, families, foundations, and companies -- yet are moved by the work we do.

Major gifts are used to support one or more of our five sectors of priority: Water and Sanitation, Health and Nutrition, Education, Micro-Enterprise Development, or Capacity Building.  In some cases, a major gift to one of these areas may fund a specific project like a new well or a school.

Many people choose to make a major gift to CCFC’s Urgent Need Fund.  These are unrestricted gifts that allow us to respond quickly to emergency situations like an earthquake or disease outbreaks. Or you may wish to make a gift to support a particular project which appeals to your interest and motivation.

There are two main uses of major gift at CCFC:

Immediate Use – In this case your total gift of cash or property is used to build the project or support the sector of your choice.  Gifts can be made annually, in a lump sum, or according to a schedule that best suits your needs.

Endowed – Your donation establishes a capital fund which is invested in CCFC’s long- term investment pool and earns interest.  Each year the interest is used to fund the project or sector you have chosen.  The capital, which remains unspent, generates interest and funds the project or sector in perpetuity.  This type of giving is a great option for donors who want to establish a project or fund that will continue to benefit children for generations to come.

CCFC has a number of gift planning options to help make donating a major gift more tax-effective and affordable.    These planned gifts are made while you are alive or at your death and maximize your gifting while minimizing the taxes payable.  This can be done by a provision in your Will and/or by making some of the gifts listed below while you are alive.  The gift may be available to CCFC to spend in full or you can specify it be preserved as a capital sum to generate an annual amount in perpetuity.  It is entirely up to you.
