Case Study

Here is a step-by-step case study on how a local high school planned a successful talent show.

  1. Decide what your event will be.

The event was a talent show for the entire student body, which included all students in grades 9 to 12, reflecting the diversity of talent.

  2. Determine who will organize the event.

The music teacher and some of her students took charge organizing the event.

  3. Identify the purpose of your event.

The team worked together to clearly identify a specific purpose for the event. They chose to raise funds for a well in Ethiopia.

They decided that funds would be raised through admission to the event.

  4. Determine event details.

The team worked with the school to determine the details around timing, where the event would take place, ensuring the event did not conflict with any other important school activities and that the students would be able to attend.

  5. Read the guidelines.

To help them get started, the students had visited the CCFC website to get more information about CCFC .

  6. Get approval from CCFC.

Once the team had planned and coordinated the event, they contacted CCFC.

The team received an email from CCFC approving their event.

The music teacher also received a phone call from a member of CCFC's Marketing and Communications department who asked her for more information about the event and helped her finalize the event details.

  7. Make sure everything is organized during the event.

Each person knew his/her duties at the show and they all carefully followed the event plan. One person was in charge of collecting the money and one of the students was the photographer for the event. Guests filled out a Sign-In Sheet and a Donation Form. At the end of the event the music teacher collected all of the money and forms.

  8. After the event send all funds, forms and pictures to CCFC. Thank those involved.

The music teacher then mailed all funds, forms and five of the group's favourite photographs to CCFC.

The group sent thank you letters to all the volunteers and teachers who helped with the event.

They were all really excited about the success of the talent show and made sure to tell friends and family members about the great time they had planning their event and the life-changing work CCFC is doing around the world.
