Text “CCFC” to 45678 to donate $5 to help the world’s poor
Christian Children’s Fund of Canada (CCFC) wants to make it easier for supporters to help children, families, and individuals in need through mobile giving. With Canadians sending 122 million text messages every day, CCFC hopes to direct a few of those messages to helping children who live in poverty.
“Donating via text message seemed like the next logical step for CCFC,” says Mark Lukowski, CEO, CCFC. “This allows everyone with a cell phone to instantly help children.
Over its 50-year record of accountability and dedication to the world’s poor, CCFC, an international child development organization, has provided hope to children and communities in need through sponsorship, micro-enterprise development projects, literacy training and education, reducing the stigma associated with HIV/AIDS, and providing emergency relief during crises like the Haiti earthquake.
“Canadians are very generous and they want to help in times of emergency, but sometimes it’s just not convenient to do so,” says Lukowski. “The idea that you can help ease someone’s struggles while you’re in a store, on the bus, or at the park is something our supporters appreciate.”
Donating to CCFC via text message is a simple two-step process. First, a donor will text the word “CCFC” to 45678. The donor will then receive a confirmation message and must reply with the word “YES” to confirm their donation. The $5 non-taxable donation charge will appear on their next wireless phone bill.
