Position Summary
Reporting to the CEO, and being a contributing member of the Senior Executive Team, the Vice President, Marketing and Communications is a strategic business partner responsible for the leadership of all marketing and communications activities including strategic planning, brand positioning and awareness building, donor acquisition and cultivation, corporate communications, advertising, public relations, market research/competitor profiles and finding new income streams.
As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Vice President, Marketing and Communications is a significant contributor to the overall leadership, policies, strategies and inter-departmental decision making for the organization.
The Vice President leads and develops a high-performing, results-oriented team, responsible for all activities related to:
- Strategic and operational business planning for sponsor and donor acquisition and cultivation involving various mediums and approaches such as Direct Mail, Direct Response TV, including the development and testing of creative, planned giving, special events, partnering, web strategies and ad campaigns;
- Positioning the organization for increased brand awareness and market share; enhancing the CCFC brand and creating PR awareness and opportunities in the media; ensuring all internal and external communications meet corporate visual identification and branding standards;
- Managing the inter-dependencies of fundraising/marketing both locally and overseas;
- Work in conjunction with ChildFund Alliance counterparts to develop marketing synergies, joint fundraising strategies and partnering opportunities;
- Planning, developing and executing internal and external communications with key target audiences, including analyzing and advising the organization on emerging opportunities and issues;
- Provide creative leadership to the marketing and communications team to drive market growth and nurture an environment of teamwork, achievement, accountability, collaboration;
- Manage effective relationships with outsourced media buyers, suppliers and vendors.

Qualifications
- Relevant university degree; CFRE preferred;
- Minimum 10 years? related experience in Marketing and Communications leadership with proven results in the acquisition and cultivation of donor audiences involving various mediums and approaches such as Direct Mail (DM), Direct Response TV (DRTV) including the development and testing of creative, planned giving, special events, partnering, web strategies and ad campaigns.
- A track record of success in both for profit and not for profit organizations an asset;
- Strong business skills - strategic planning; budgeting; leadership of operations and staff; execution of plans; evaluation; administration and accountability to deliver results;
- Demonstrated experience achieving aggressive fundraising results, growth strategies, brand awareness and positioning strategies;
- Strong understanding of the monthly giving business model and exposure to other fundraising models;
- Effective at communicating at all levels of the organization, including staff, colleagues, CEO, Board of Directors
- Superior communication and presentation skills in all mediums with the ability to influence, persuade and gain commitment of others on ideas and plans;
- A flexible, creative and innovative change agent;
- An ethical marketer and entrepreneurial thinker who can create trust-based relationships with donors and sponsors;
- Ability to travel into developing countries up to four times per year, requiring cultural sensitivity and involving harsh and demanding environments, each trip being approximately two weeks in length;
- Demonstrated commitment to the vision and values of CCFC and the work it does overseas to help children, their families and communities.
